Why Install Now

Bills aren't going down.
Solar is the fix.

Irish electricity prices have nearly doubled in the past five years. The SEAI grant, combined with 0% VAT and the Clean Export Guarantee (which pays you for electricity you export back to the grid), means there has never been a better time to go solar.

  • Grant up to €1,800 — we apply on your behalf, you pay the net price
  • 0% VAT — since May 2023, all panels and inverters are VAT-free
  • Get paid to export — earn income from excess electricity via the CEG scheme
  • BER improvement — solar raises your home's energy rating, adding resale value

Common Questions

Solar Panels — Your Questions Answered

Do solar panels work in the Irish climate?
Yes — and better than most people expect. Solar panels work on daylight, not direct sunlight. Ireland receives enough solar irradiance to generate 850–1,100 kWh per kWp installed per year. Even overcast days generate meaningful power. The cooler temperature actually improves panel efficiency compared to hot climates.
How long does installation take?
Most domestic installations are completed in 1–2 days. Larger systems or complex roofs may take 2–3 days. We aim to cause minimal disruption — our team arrives early, works efficiently, and leaves the site clean. You'll have power flowing by the end of the first day in most cases.
Do I need planning permission for solar panels in Ireland?
In most cases, no. Solar panels on residential roofs are classified as exempt development under Irish planning regulations, provided they don't protrude more than 15cm above the roof slope and are not on a protected structure. We confirm this during your free survey. In rare cases where planning is required, we guide you through the process.
What maintenance is required?
Solar panels require very little maintenance. Rain keeps them clean in Irish conditions. We recommend a professional inspection every 3–5 years to check mounting fixings, cable connections, and inverter performance. Your monitoring app will flag any drop in performance between inspections.
What happens to excess electricity I don't use?
Any electricity your panels generate that you don't immediately use is exported to the national grid. Under the Clean Export Guarantee (CEG) scheme, your electricity supplier pays you for every kWh you export — typically 18–21 cent per unit. We set up the export metering as part of your installation.
